Studio Rules & Etiquette

Studio Rules
- Students must arrive for class at least five (5) minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
- Check in at the front desk for all programs whether you have your card or not!
- All students must dress appropriately for class. Karate students click here for specific requirements.
- No shoes allowed in the dojo. Please arrive with clean feet and with shoes on!
- Store shoes on the shelves in locker rooms during class. Please do not leave shoes in the hallway or in the viewing room.
- Sneakers may be worn to the Kickboxing class or you may go barefoot. Sneaker soles must be non-marking and clean. Feet must be clean. No boots, heels, flip flops, or sandals.
- No chewing gum or eating is permitted in the dojo or dance studio.
- All students under 16 years of age must have his/her name written on all uniforms, gear and shoes.
- Karate guests may view the class either from inside the dojo or from the viewing room. Dance guests may view the class from the lobby viewing area only; no guests permitted inside the dance studio.
- Please supervise your children at all times while they are not in class. Please do not allow children to play in the locker rooms/restrooms.
All students and guests must follow the guidelines below while in the dojo during class time:
- Turn off cell phones and pagers
- Do not interrupt the instruction in any way (guests)
- Remain inside the dojo for the duration of the class. Try to use the bathroom prior to class time. Bathroom breaks will disrupt class flow and progress.
- Coaching is not allowed. Please allow the instructors to provide the guidance and training you have paid them for. They are the professionals.
- No photography or videography.
All students must follow the guidelines below while in the dance studio during class time:
- No items are permitted in the dance studio. Mommies and Daddies (Mommy/Daddy & Me class) can place personals on studio shelves.

Schedule and Account Changes
Contact Information: Update your address and other contact information as soon as a change occurs. Either log in to your account online or complete a change notification form at the MAS studio front desk. You may also contact us by email. Changes made verbally at the studio or over the telephone must be followed by written notification.
Hold Status: MAS has a no refund policy. If you want to put your membership on hold, please complete a change notification form at the front desk at least 3 business days before your next payment is due. Remember to let us know if you are on autopay! We must receive written notification and a specific request to stop your autopay charges at least 3 business days before your next scheduled charge. We cannot make refunds for requests not received at least 3 business days in advance. Parents, we must receive notification by you, not your child.
Purchasing Required Gear & Uniforms
- Gear, uniforms, dance apparel and other equipment must be purchased through MAS only.
Belt Testing
Testing is scheduled every four months. Not all students will test each time and additional charges apply. Check with your child's instructor to keep tabs on his/her progress. Adults, check with your instructor as well. Avoid waiting until it is time for testing. Private Sessions are available and recommended for fine tuning. Check with the front desk for details and scheduling.

Martial Arts Etiquette
- Students who arrive late for class should stand at the door with hand raised until the instructor gives permission to join class.
- Bow at the entrance to the dojo to show respect for your training hall.
- Address instructors as Sir/Ma'am and Mr./Mrs./Miss.
- Shake instructors' hand and thank him/her for class at the end of training sessions.
- Raise your hand to ask questions during class.
- Ask head instructor permission before attending any outside martial arts events or tournaments.
- Ask your instructor how you are progressing at least once per month.
Dance Etiquette
- Students who arrive late for class should stand inside the door until the instructor gives permission to join class. Tardiness disrupts class flow and progress.
- Curtsy (girl) or bow (boys) at the entrance to the studio to show respect.
- No sitting or leaning on the mirrors or barres during class time.
- Address instructors as Miss Mia, Miss April, Miss Patti, and Miss Mikael.
- Thank your dance instructor for class at the end of each session.
- Raise your hand to ask questions during class.
- Ask Dance Director for permission before attending any outside dance events.
- Ask your instructor how you are progressing at least once per month.
- Students must have a valid excuse for not attending class. E-mail your teacher or call the studio regarding attendance. A make-up class in any style of your current level or 1 level higher may be taken within the same month to replace a missed class.
